CAPITOL PUNISHMENT

Capital Punishment (The Death Penalty) in many ways has been supported and rejected by many different religious groups. Influential theologians have guided many great leaders to follow one belief and than the other. As I prayed about all of these ideologies I came to believe that one’s time on earth is a decision that should be left only to “GOD”.

Anyone protecting themselves or another from harm that could potentially result in death is the only reason one human should kill another human. Additionally self defence is further defined to include pre-emptive tactics to remove those who proclaimed themselves to be enemies or have made an overt effort or plan to take the lives of others.

Capital Punishment should not become actualized through any act of evil. In a time where horrific and grievous crimes happen every day throughout the world and in our own communities I firmly understand the appeal of capital punishment and find it easy to relate to the desire to punish wicked men and woman. However to lead others to do wrong is worse than the crime itself so we cannot substitute hate for righteousness.

I have witness many extremely grievous unspeakable acts against innocence during my time in combat and while serving many communities as a police detective. These fanatical and absolutely evil types of criminals cannot be released back into society. We must maintain laws that ensure that just punishment is received. We are obligated to protect the innocent and we must hold ourselves responsible to ensure that these types of criminals and repeat offenders are not released back into society.

Punishment in America is weak enough without creating the belief that fear of the death penalty will deter crime. Crime will grow without increased federal support of law enforcement and extensive focus toward prison reform. It is time to get serious about making strong crime prevention policies and law enforcement tactics that influences the minds and souls of those who have yet to commit a crime and those prisoners who may become repeat offenders without effective rehabilitation. Those who have committed grievous harm to others must be held accountable and our policies should support all legal aspects that work toward protecting our communities and insuring adequate sentencing and time served is enforced.
